Masks are used by many cultures for ceremonial and religious purposes. They have a mysticism and magical force, each telling its own stories.
My interest in masks began when I was quite young and just becoming
interested in cultures other than my own. As an adult, international
studies and travels to Africa and the South Pacific connected me to the mask
as a unique tribal totem and cemented my fascination with their often
primitive nature.
With my own masks, I try to replicate that tone, through the use of organic materials, recycled and found objects, plant fibers and horse hair.
